Making factory events easier to understand

Intelligent Factory Operations Copilot (IFOC) is a full-stack demonstration project for factory operations. It turns machine events into a dashboard where operators can review machine status, inspect incidents, and follow the data flowing through the system.

The frontend is built with Vue 3 and TypeScript, while the NestJS backend consumes machine events from Kafka and stores operational projections in MongoDB. OpenTelemetry sends traces and metrics to a Grafana LGTM stack, making the system observable during a live demonstration.

The current experience includes a factory overview dashboard, machine monitoring, an event center, machine details, and an interactive simulator. AI-assisted incident summaries are part of the planned direction and are intentionally marked as unavailable until the integration is ready.

Future plan

IFOC is planned to evolve from a monitoring demo into an operational intelligence platform:

  • Event operations: strengthen incident management with real-time updates, event replay, alert acknowledgment and resolution, and escalation rules.
  • Operational intelligence: connect a real LLM provider and add an SOP knowledge base, RAG, event search, root-cause analysis, machine and maintenance history, and production analytics such as MTTA and MTTR.
  • AI copilot: provide conversational assistance, incident summaries, recommendations, recovery guidance, work-order suggestions, and predictive maintenance support.
  • Digital twin integration: connect OPC UA, PLC, and live sensor data, then expand toward real-time factory visualization, multi-line monitoring, simulation, and vendor-specific event translation.

Multi-tenant SaaS capabilities, including factory hierarchies, role-based access, tenant-specific rules, and separate knowledge bases, remain a longer-term product consideration rather than a committed phase.
